   I’m backpacking (not treking, just no luggage) 3 weeks in China alone (female), first goal after H.K. is Guilin & Yangshou. My travel experience is “hippie-ing” it through India/Afgh/Nepal etc. in the 70’s/early 80’s, do you suggest I spend all my time in this area? I’ve been invited to stay with a family in Kunning, no english (that’s ok), and thought of maybe going to Hanoi. I would respect your opinion.

   As beautiful as the Yangshuo region is i would definitely suggest you perhaps also take advantage of the offer in Kunming for a few days and make your way overland down to Hanoi via Guangxi and Yunnan.
